Our Facilities
The Wellington Meditation Centre is situated at 31 Hobson Crescent, Thorndon about 20 minutes walk from the city, 15 minutes from the railway station or buses. Parking is available during the weekends and evenings, but is limited during week-days.
Our rooms are lovingly maintained and cared for and our first requirement of hirers is to respect the peace, tranquillity and special atmosphere which has been built up over time. We do not make the rooms available for parties, weddings or festivities but prefer to let to groups with aims compatible with the practice of meditation and spiritual work. We look sympathetically at yoga, tai chi, qigong and similar activities. Sometimes, during the day speech or music exams are held there, and the quiet atmosphere is very appropriate for these.
Shared facilities include a well equipped kitchen and two bathrooms, each having a shower and toilet. We require hirers to leave the rooms as they find them, and vacuum cleaners, brooms and cleaning materials are available.
Large Room
There is a large meeting room of approximately 63 square metres that can comfortably seat 50 or so, and more seated if upon cushions. There is a piano available, a gas fire as well as electric heaters. French doors open onto a pleasant secluded garden.
For Large Room, we charge $88 for each of a Morning, Afternoon and Evening.
Smaller Room
There is also a smaller room for hire which seats about 8 people.
For Smaller Room, we charge $55 for each booking period.
