Recorders and Early Music Union

The Recorders and Early Music union holds a weekend at least once a year at Strathean to which any interested people from around the country are able to enroll. This includes singers as well as instrumentalists. The focus is primarily on early music (pre 1750) and appropriate? instrumentation (wherever possible). Modern metal flutes, clarinets and accordions etc. would not be appropriate.
Programmes include playing extensively from scores, so sight reading needs to be sufficiently developed. Some accommodation may be arranged for those who require private practice on select pieces. Day only attendance is acceptable, prices are minimised but include tuition and some food costs. Non musical family members may be brought as guests if suitable arrangements can be made.

Sufi Retreat – A contemplative study of the spiritual teachings of the Sufi Universal Message of Hazrat Inayat Khan.

Programme includes Sufi poetry, music, meditation and breathing practices.
